Absolutely. Many of my clients are first-time therapy participants. The initial phone consultation helps familiarise you with the process and determine if this approach feels well-suited to your needs. There's no expectation that you should know how therapy works - that's part of what we'll explore together.
-
If you're dealing with patterns that feel difficult to change, struggling with relationship issues, feeling stuck on past experiences, or simply wanting to understand yourself more deeply, this work may be beneficial.
This approach tends to work well for people who are curious about their inner world, ready to invest time in the therapeutic process, and interested in understanding why they operate the way they do rather than just managing symptoms.
The initial phone consultation will help clarify whether we're a good therapeutic match.

I work with adults who want more than surface-level solutions. My clients tend to be curious about their inner world, emotionally reflective, and ready to invest time in understanding themselves deeply and making long-lasting changes.

The first couple of sessions are typically spent exploring your current difficulties, as well as gaining a broader understanding of your life experiences. Once we have a good idea of what’s impacting you, we can then collaboratively develop goals for therapy: if therapy is successful, what will that look like for you?
After we have developed your therapeutic goals, we will begin working towards them. This may involve a range of strategies that target your thinking, behaviour, and emotional experiences. It may include cognitive techniques, imagery and visualisation work, trauma processing, and ‘parts’ work. This is typically where the bulk of your sessions will be focused on.
-
Rather than focusing solely on changing behaviours or thoughts, we explore what drives them beneath the surface. This means spending time understanding your internal world - your emotional patterns, the different parts of yourself, and how your past experiences continue to influence your present relationships.
It's deeper work that takes time but creates fundamental and lasting change.

Unfortunately, I cannot predict this.
There are so many factors that influence how long you come to therapy for. However, we will discuss the approximate length in one of our early sessions after gaining an understanding of your current difficulties and therapy goals.
-
Most clients attend weekly or fortnightly sessions, depending on their therapeutic needs and current circumstances. Session frequency is determined collaboratively based on your goals and what will be most beneficial for your therapeutic progress.

Yes, everything discussed in therapy is confidential. There are only very limited circumstances where confidentiality might be broken (such as serious risk of harm), and these would be discussed with you first whenever possible.

Life happens, and I understand that sometimes you need to reschedule. Please provide 48 hours' notice where possible. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice incur 50% of the session fee, whilst those cancelled within 24 hour’s incur the full fee.
